NFP MOURNS THE PASSING OF AZMAT ALI KHAN

The National Federation Party is deeply saddened by the passing of our former Assistant General Secretary and parliamentary candidate, Mr Azmat Ali Khan.
Mr Khan was a loyal and committed member of the NFP who served the Party during an important period in its history. From 1994 to 1998, he served as Assistant General Secretary, contributing to the organisational work of the Party and helping advance its cause at both national and community level.
His commitment to the NFP was also demonstrated through his willingness to place himself before the people as a candidate on three occasions. He contested the Cuvu/Malomalo South/Sigatoka Urban Indian Communal Constituency in 1992, the Ba West Indian Communal Constituency in 1994, and the Lautoka Rural Indian Communal Constituency in 1999.
Those who offer themselves for public office, particularly through the difficult years of opposition and political change, do so because they believe in something larger than themselves. Mr Khan gave his time, energy and service to a Party whose enduring cause has been equality, justice, democracy and a better Fiji for all our people.
His passing marks the loss of another member of the generation that carried the NFP through challenging political times and remained steadfast in its principles.
The Leader of the National Federation Party, Hon. Prof. Biman Prasad together with the Party President, the Management Board, Members of Parliament and the entire NFP family, extends our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Mr Khan’s family, relatives and loved ones during this time of profound loss. We share in their grief and pray that they find strength and comfort in the memories of his life, his service and the contribution he made to the Party and to public life.
We thank Mr Khan for his loyalty, his commitment and his many years of service to the National Federation Party. His contribution will always remain part of the history of our movement.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
