PM relies on AG for decisions
August 11, 2022
For the Prime Minister to say he isn’t sure about the date for the general election confirms the long-held belief that decisions are made for him by the Attorney-General and Minister for Economy, said National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad.
Professor Prasad said the PM Voreqe Bainimarama should have the decency and courtesy of informing the people in Fiji about the election date, instead of talking about it to a group of former Fiji residents.
“The PM should be transparent and have the guts to determine the election date and inform the nation”.
“His comment that he wasn’t sure about the date but it would be held by December shows he has to consult his right-hand man and defacto PM, the AG, before making the announcement”.
“That is why he blindly endorses all actions of the AG, allowing him to ride roughshod over parliamentary democracy by forcing through parliament Bills under Standing Order 51, and engineering acts that blatantly undermine good governance, transparency and accountability”.
“Whatever the case may be, the NFP is more than ready to enter government and end more than 15 years of rule by the cruel and heartless Fiji First government”.
“People cannot wait to boot them out of power, the two-man rule of PM and AG who have clearly shirked national interest and have drowned our nation in debt by governing through fear-mongering and recklessness”.
